Today, Sunday 13th May, starting at 12:00 UTC+2, the semifinals of the WTCOC 2021 will take place.
The first match will bring face to face Romania and Russia, and two hours later, at 14:00 UTC+2, it will be the turn of Japan and Catalonia.

Below you can find some information about the four teams, which will help us shorten a little bit the wait, and will thrive the emotion prior to the highly interesting duels of the semifinals.
- On one side, there is the showdown between Romania and Russia (1st and 3rd classified of group C in the group phase); on the other side, Japan and Catalonia (1st and 3rd classified of group A).
- Romania, with 6 victories, is the semifinalist that won most matches in the group phase, followed by Russia (5), Japan (5) and Catalonia (4). However, it is worth reminding that Romania and Russia played one more match than the other two semifinalists.
- Each semifinal includes one of the finalists of the previous WTCOC: Russia and Japan. Romania already knows what it feels to be among the best four teams of the championship but it is a new sensation for Catalonia, since last year it ended in the 6th place.
- Russia, Japan and Romania have at least one world champion among their team members (in the case of Japan, two). As for Catalonia, it has two players that participated in one occasion in the individual world championship in Essen and both ended among the 14th best world players.
- Finally, it should be noted that three out of the four teams can improve their performance in relation to WTCOC 2020. Russia is looking forward to become the new world champion, Romania seeks to surpass its 4th place and Catalonia, no matter what, has already done better than last year. For its part, Japan can ratify its title or go down 1 to 3 places.

Avui, diumenge 13 de maig, a partir de les 12:00 UTC+2, es jugarà la fase de semifinals del WTCOC 2021.
En el primer dels partits s’enfrontaran Romania i Rússia, i dues hores més tard, a les 14:00 UTC+2, serà el torn del Japó i Catalunya.

Tot seguit compartim una sèrie de dades relacionades amb els quatre equips, que ens ajudaran a fer una mica més curta l’espera i alimentaran l’emoció prèvia d’aquests interessantísims duels de semifinals.
D’una banda tenim l’enfrontament entre Romania i Rússia, que van ser el primer i el tercer classificats del grup C a la fase de grups; de l’altra, el Japó i Catalunya, que també van ser primer i tercer, respectivament, del grup A.
Romania, amb 6 victòries, és l’equip semifinalista que més partits va guanyar a la fase de grups, seguida de Rússia, amb 5, i el Japó, també amb 5. Tant Romania com Rússia, però, van jugar un partit més que els altres dos semifinalistes. Catalunya, per la seva banda, va guanyar 4 partits.
Cadascuna de les semifinals compta amb un dels dos finalistes de l’edició anterior del WTCOC: Rússia i el Japó. En paral·lel, Romania ja sap el que és estar entre els quatre millors i Catalunya s’estrena, ja que l’any passat va quedar en sisena posició.
Rússia, el Japó i Romania compten a les seves files amb almenys un campió del món. En el cas del Japó, en són dos. Catalunya, per la seva banda, compta amb dos jugadors que han participat en una ocasió al mundial individual d’Essen i s’han classificat entre els 14 millors jugadors del món.
Finalment, de les quatre seleccions, tres opten a millorar la seva participació respecte al WTCOC 2020. Rússia busca ser campiona del món, Romania superar el quart lloc i Catalunya, faci el que faci, ja s’ha superat. Per la seva banda, el Japó pot revalidar el títol o baixar entre 1 i 3 posicions.
