Round 5 of WTCOC21 has ended. With just two weeks left to play to qualify for the knock-out stage, there are still 23 teams still in the competition with a chance to progress. Mathematically Poland already have one foot in the next round and the teams from Belgium, France, Hong Kong and Peru no longer have a chance to progress. Here are some of the interesting facts of the week.
- A total of 13 matches, 65 duels and 156 carcassonne games were played.
- Of the 65 duels, 39 finished in two games and 26 went to the third game.
- Five ties occurred on this round.
- Of the 271 players registered in the World Cup, only 61 have been lined up in all possible matches and 42 players have not participated.
- A total of 39 players have won all their matches but only 9 of them have played every match.
- A total of 10 players have not lost any games but only “Liudeselis” from Lithuania / Latvia and “Merlin_89” from Poland have played every week and have not lost any games.
- Only the national teams of Germany (10), Argentina (10), Brazil (10), Catalonia (10), Guatemala (7), Holland (7), Hungary (10), Japan (10), Romania (7) and Ukraine (8) have lined up all their players.
- Mexico is the last of the four top seeds to lose a match.
- Only three undefeated teams remain: Chile, Italy and Poland.
- By decision of the DAZ, the third game between Karaman and Spakune takes place, with the Peruvian player winning. So the results of the previous day do not change.
- In the first game of the duel Hurtle_cz vs ComplixVandh the Czech’s clock reached negative numbers. However, the Czech’s clock jumped from +4 seconds to -1 seconds, so the DAZ determined that “Hurtle_cz” had played on time and the final score that favored the Czech Republic was taken into account.
- The Belgian player N2xu is the only one who has taken all his duels to the third game. Something curious is that he has always lost the first game.
- In the first game of the duel between sergt from Russia and mosopal from Hungary, the Russian player had negative time; however, instead of conceding the departure, he abandoned.
- The match between Peru and Belarus was scheduled for Saturday at 20:00 (UTC + 2); however, the Peruvian team arrived an hour late. By regulation, Belarus could claim the victory by 0-5 but understanding the confusion in Peru they rescheduled the game for Sunday at the same time, with Belarus winning.
- The Russia vs Hungary match was defined by a draw in the third game of the match between Someone_you_know and szigfrid. Because the Hungarian player started, Russia won the match.
- The teams of Argentina, USA and Colombia rested on this fifth day.

La jornada 5 del WTCOC21 ha culminado. A solo dos semanas de que termine la fase de grupos aún hay 23 selecciones que buscan conseguir su boleto a la siguiente ronda. Matemáticamente Polonia ya tienen un pie en la siguiente ronda pero las selecciones de Bélgica, Francia, Hong Kong y Perú ya no tienen posibilidades. Estos son algunos de los datos interesantes de la semana.
- Se jugaron un total de 13 partidos, 65 duelos y 156 juegos de carcassonne.
- De los 65 duelos, 39 culminaron en dos juegos y 26 se fueron al tercer juego.
- Cinco empates ocurrieron en la jornada.
- De los 271 jugadores inscritos en el mundial solamente 61 han sido alineados todos los partidos posibles y 42 jugadores no han tenido participación.
- Un total de 39 jugadores han ganado todos sus duelos pero solo 9 de ellos han jugado todas las jornadas.
- Un total de 10 jugadores no han perdido ningún juego pero solamente Liudeselis de Lituania/Letonia y Merlin_89 de Polonia han jugado todas las semanas y no han perdido ningún juego.
- Solamente las selecciones de Alemania (10), Argentina (10), Brasil (10), Cataluña (10), Guatemala (7), Holanda (7), Hungría (10), Japón (10), Rumanía (7) y Ucrania (8) han alineado a todos sus jugadores.
- México es el último cabeza de grupo en perder el invicto.
- Solamente quedan tres equipos invictos: Chile, Italia y Polonia.
- Por decisión del DAZ, se lleva a cabo el tercer juego entre Karaman y Spakune, ganando el jugador peruano. Por lo que no cambian los resultados de la jornada anterior.
- En el primer juego del duelo Hurtle_cz vs ComplixVandh el reloj del checo llegó a números negativos. Sin embargo, el reloj del checó saltó de +4 segundos a -1 segundos, así que el DAZ determinó que “Hurtle_cz” había jugado a tiempo y se tomó en cuenta el marcador final que favoreció a República Checa.
- El jugador belga N2xu es el único que ha llevado todos sus duelos al tercer juego. Algo curioso es que ha perdido siempre el primer juego.
- En el primer juego del duelo entre sergt de Rusia y mosopal de Hungría, el jugador ruso tuvo tiempo negativo; sin embargo, en lugar de conceder la partida, la abandonó.
- El partido entre Perú y Bielorrusia estaba programado para el sábado a las 20:00 horas (UTC+2); sin embargo, el conjunto peruano llegó una hora tarde. Por reglamento, Bielorrusia podía reclamar el triunfo por 0-5 pero entendiendo la confusión de Perú re-programaron el juego para el domingo a la misma hora, resultando ganador Bielorrusia.
- El partido de Rusia vs Hungría se definió por un empate en el tercer juego del duelo entre Someone_you_know y szigfrid. Debido a que el jugador húngaro inició, Rusia ganó el partido.
- Las selecciones de Argentina, USA y Colombia descansaron en esta quinta jornada.
