Dissabte passat es va jugar la primera fase de classificació per formar part de l’equip català al mundial online 2021.
Els primers d’entrar en combat van ser tots aquells que en algun moment han arribat a 300 punts d’Elo a la BGA però no als 500. Inicialment eren 10 els jugadors apuntats, però finalment van acabar sent 8. Agraïm, als que no van poder, que ens ho notifiquessin. Degut al nombre final de jugadors, el format va ser de lligueta.
Durant el matí hi va haver molta emoció. A la ronda final hi havia fins a quatre jugadors disputant-se les dues places, i no gaire abans, gairebé tots tenien alguna opció. Els més encertats van ser en Quim Ventura (Quim VS) amb 5,5 punts i en Joan-Pol Argenter (VisitorQ) amb 5. Tots dos jugadors van demostrar un molt bon nivell de joc. De fet, els que vam estar veient el torneig en directe podem corroborar que el nivell de tots vuit participants va ser molt alt!
La propera cita serà dissabte que ve, on en Quim, en Joan-Pol i dotze jugadors més es barallaran (sempre en el bon sentit d’aquesta paraula) per les vuit places que hi ha en joc. En cas d’haver-hi empats o diferències de mig punt, s’hauria de jugar la tercera i definitiva fase. Tot i així, segur que dissabte que ve ja tindrem alguns noms que acompanyaran en Pere Vives (Fisherman7a) i en David Bourdois (Defdean) a la selecció.
Ens deixem de xerrameca i els desitgem molta sort als que queden al procés. En el millor dels casos, Catalunya tindrà un equipàs. En el pitjor, en canvi, tindrà un equipàs.
Una vegada més, agraïm a tots els que heu decidit participar a aquesta aventura.

Last Saturday, the first qualifying round was played to be part of the Catalan team in the 2021 World Cup online.
The first to enter the fight were all those who at some point have reached 300 Elo points in the BGA but not at 500. Initially there were 10 players signed up, but they ended up being 8. We thank those who could not, let us know. Due to the final number of players, the format was league.
During the morning there was a lot of excitement. In the final round there were up to four players fighting for both places, and not long before, almost everyone had a choice. The most successful were Quim Ventura (Quim VS) with 5.5 points and Joan-Pol Argenter (VisitorQ) with 5. Both players showed a very good level of play. In fact, those of us who were watching the tournament live can corroborate that the level of all eight participants was very high!
The next meeting will be next Saturday, where Quim, Joan-Pol and twelve other players will fight (always in the good sense of the word) for the eight places at stake. In the event of a tie or a half-point difference, the third and final phase should be played. However, I’m sure that next Saturday we will have some names that will accompany Pere Vives (Fisherman7a) and David Bourdois (Defdean) to the selection.
